Emergency Medical Technician

CMU EMS offers an EMT-Basic certification class at Carnegie Mellon every spring semester. The course is given by the Community College of Allegheney County (CCAC), so registration is open to anyone who meets the prerequisites. Carnegie Mellon students can receive 6 units of course credit by signing up for the class through OLR in addition to the registration process below. 

Course Description

This program is primarily designed for Ambulance/EMS personnel, but is appropriate for anyone who may be required to respond to emergencies and has access to Emergency Care equipment. This Pennsylvania Department of Health certified course combines lecture, skill demonstration, and skill practice to provide will-rounded education. Previous CPR or First Aid is recommended, but not required. Successful completion of the program and State examinations merits Pennsylvania Department of Health certification good for a period of three years.

Prerequisite: Participants must be at least sixteen (16) years of age at the time of the state examinations.

Please see CCAC's upcoming course schedule for an official list of EMT classes, including ours. Everyone, including CMU students, must fill out the registration form below in order to take the class. Forms and payment are due to CMU EMS three weeks prior to the start date of the class.
